21 Countries Down, 10 to Go
In a remarkable feat of planning, we have actually selected and finalized the locations for our next few weeks of traveling. This is previously unheard of amounts of preparation, but we are growing older (and wiser) as we travel…and if you have friends/recommendations/churches/MUSTs for any of these areas, would you post a comment or message us with the tips? Life Lessons from Greece
10. The Swedish people are every bit as cool as you would think and Canadian/UK wedding parties are the best. 9. Aubergine is a cool word for eggplant and can be successfully combined with nearly every dish.  8. Toilet paper belongs in a rubbish bin, not the toilet.  7. Instead of asking how tall someone is, it is instead possible to inquire after their length.  6. Just because you are in...

Ten Reasons Not To Come Italy
Do NOT come to Italy if: 10. You prefer men who dress sloppy or have no sense of style. 9. You are completely satisfied eating ice cream out of a carton, Coke out of a fountain, spaghetti out of a can, and Parmesan cheese out of a shaker. 8. You prefer modern buildings with no personality or history. 17. You like driving SUVs or cars with an automatic transmission. 6. You consider getting out of a...

We Love Italy
Italy so far has been everything that postcards promise and people say. Incredible food, ancient cities, fashionable people, vineyards, canals, and more.  A friend is graciously letting Rachel and I (along with friends Rebecca and Erica) stay at their house in Treviso. We have been here a few days and are on a 2 day trip to Florence and Cinque Terre, driving through the countryside. You can pray...

Stolen
One of the special skills we have acquired internationally is thievery. Two items have been stolen by one of four suspects: Sarah, Rachel. Erica, or Rebecca.  Take your guess at who stole what and if you get it right we will send you a postcard from Italy.  Total value: under 1 euro Hint:  Out of Ali came something dear Used by a sister when cradled near Sainsbury’s UK was the scene...

Laughter
Laughing with friends is one of our favorite things to do. We spent today in York, England, with our dear friends, the Sylvesters, and had a wonderful day of fun, friendship, and laughter. I’d post pictures, but the only thing that wasn’t funny was how Sarah broke her camera. Side note: rain plus cameras plus clumsy = out of focus camera lenses. Anyway, back to the point: there is a...

Brussels and More
Turns out WiFi (the free kind) is almost impossible to find in Europe - so we do have lots of pictures but can’t manage to post them right now. We are in a cafe in Brussels, Belgium soaking up the French accents, the gentle kindness of people here, and predictably eating Belgian waffles and chocolate! Highlights of the trip so far: An incredible FREE walking tour of Berlin. Rachel and...

Travel Lessons
We have been traveling for 6 days so far and we are pretty much pros now so in case you are thinking of traveling the world here are some thoughts: 1. Always bring less than you think you need. Lugging your luggage gets old pretty fast. 2. Eavesdropping on English-speaking tour groups is a great way to meet people. 3. Skyscanner.com is your new best friend (because of it, we are en route to...

Prague
Two days, 6 underground stations, and several new friends later, we are in our first destination…Prague! We brought some rain from England with us, but can’t wait to explore this historic city. Echoes of Good King Wenceslas are everywhere, from street names to pubs. We slept a solid 12 hours last night in London so we are headed out for an evening adventure and dinner. And...

Why?
We are traveling around the world. And we’re getting a lot of fun questions about it…and the first obvious one is: Why? To which, being travelers, we would generally answer: Why not?  But that’s a sarcastic and incomplete answer, so to give a better one: we are at a stage in our lives where traveling is fun, easy, and exciting. We don’t have husbands or children,...
