  • Today, we flew from Rome to Athens and left a little piece of our hearts in Italy. We have never been to a country with so much history, such interesting people, and such fascinating culture.

    Highlights from this country:

-Seeing the Coliseum, the David in Florence, Cinque Terre, Venice, Pisa, Verona, the Vatican, the Sistine Chapel, the Roman Forum, the catacombs, Calvary Chapel Montebelluna, Feltre, Frescate, and Rome!

-Discovering that Italian men actually live up to all the stereotypes. Very rarely will you find military police in America who will actually pinch you in inappropriate places while you are taking a picture or pull you over for a speeding ticket and then ask for a photo.

-Eating absolutely fantastic Italian food. Somehow, we managed to drink an average of 4 cappuccinos a day, eat 28 chocolate croissants, and enough pizza and pasta to almost make us tired of Italian food…and still we lost weight. It could have had something to do with our miles and miles of walking and the fact that all the ingredients are healthy too.

-Making new friends from all around the world; tour guides from Amsterdam, sightseeing companions from Scotland, waiters from New York, and neighbors in Italy.

    Io amo l’Italia!
