  • No one warned us that we would love Hungary so much. The history, the people, the food, and the buildings have overwhelmed us. After Greece (which we lovingly disliked - ponder that dichotomy), everywhere we went in Hungary exceeded our expectations.

    Highlights from our time here:

-Discovering the history through meeting people here, hearing stories of what it was like to grow up under Communism (including the good and bad), of grandparents who were interred in concentration camps and wrote letters to Stalin, and of just a few short years ago where visas and paperwork were required for Hungarians to visit America.

-Spending time with amazing missionaries and visiting churches in Budapest, Debrecen, and Vajta.

-Eating Hungarian pizza - a garlicy delight, plain yogurt - it actually tastes good here, and lots of chocolate croissants and Hungarian pancakes.

-Visiting a spa/sauna/steamer where we mingled with Hungarian locals, nearly died from the heat, and soaked in mineral water.

We fly to Paris tomorrow to start a whole new adventure. Any must dos/sees are welcome!
